best way to clean baby toys?
im a first time mom with a son thats one week shy of 4 months old and he likes to play with toys. however, hes started to get bored of the toys that are out right now and i'd like to switch them up. a friend of mine gave me some toys that her kids played with but what im wondering is how i wash these properly? some are plush, some are plastic and some are a combination. a lot of them take batteries. any tips would be appreciated because like i said, im new at this and want to keep my little man entertained! thanks!
I got this advice from a friend that owns a daycare and has to clean toys daily. This is the state guidline for sanitizing toys...
Take a 1 quart spray bottle and fill with water, add one capful of bleach. Just mist the plastic toys with the mixture and wipe clean/dry. They are safe to give your child right away. Pour the solution out when your done, as it loses it's potency and will not disinfect if kept longer than 24 hours. She explained to me also some of the new Clorox products you see advertised on tv with them spraying in the fridge and around the kids, you actually have to wait a few minutes for the chemical to evaporate. Disinfectant sprays and wipes leave a residue that you don't want you little one to ingest.
As for the plush toys, I just throw them in the wash on the gentle cycle.
