How important do you think it is to feed your baby organic food?
I've been reading articles lately about how preservatives in food cause little girls to mature faster. Girls are getting breasts/their periods earlier and earlier (as early as age 7 or 8!) and it is being linked to chemicals/preservatives in a lot of food these days...
Do you feed your baby only organic food? Do you think it really makes a big difference? Or is it more for peace of mind that you do it?
I try to give my son as much organic as possible, but even more important, I think, is as much fresh, unprocessed food as possible. Look for local suppliers (farm stands or farmers markets) and real EVERY label - even on baby food. Check out The Omnivore's Dilema, by Michael Pollen for more info on organics and what to eat.
I am careful, too, to make sure food is grown in the US - for example, a lot of bottled juices are made from concentrates from other countries, like China and Turkey - I don't see any reason to buy apple juice from China, when we have plenty of apples here in the US.
I do think it makes a difference - our children are constantly exposed to environmental toxins that no other generation has ever had to live with (plastics, pesiticides, hormones, etc.) I think every thing you can do to minimize your child's exposure will benefit you child's development now and his/her health in the long run.

And then, once you are sure your foods are in the clear, take a look at your shampoos, soaps, sunscreens and cleaners...that's another place that your child can come into contact with not so kid (or people!) friendly chemicals!
