What are the advantages and disadvantages of babying a dog or a puppy?
When we get a dog it becomes a part of our family. They are trained and have no issues. They are great dogs. But we treat them as if they are a part of our family and love them.
We have an 11 year old Lab that my husband tucks in at night....puts him in the barn and covers him with a blanket. Our 8 year old Norwegian Elk Hound is like having a built-in babysitter. And our Puggle puppy is like our baby.
Some people get dogs to use for work or hunting and I can see the importance of NOT babying them. But I think different people have pets for different reasons, and those reasons usually determine how they are raised and treated. So the choice is up to you. But no matter what you chose, it is important to train your dog and make sure that he DOES understand who is in charge....just like you would your children.
