Why does Elmo on Sesame Street only have two legs when his parents both have three?
Check for yourself at the very beginning of Elmo's World during the last third of Sesame Street. In their portrait on the wall of Elmo's apartment, shown plainly albeit briefly every weekday, their anatomy is quite obvious, among other things.
Like the ad sings to the little kiddies, "use your imagination..."
So, is there any possible subliminal suggestion which might lead one to conclude that Elmo's parents are gay, or, worse yet, that his missing appendage indicates that Elmo has been castrated?
I do not recall having seen this picture, but if Elmo's parents are not missing these parts and Elmo is, it may suggest that children, including undeveloped monsters, are asexual. As such, they remain as a "tabula rasa", vulnerable to being sexualized and worked upon by the system.
