I know most children have a favorite animal or blankey that they hold on too no matter where they go but my question is this: why do they put up a struggle when you go to wash it? I told Jasper that I had to wash his blankey and he looked at me like the devil or something...I got him ready for school and headed back upstair to collect laundry and noticed that he had *tried to hide his blankey on me...this made me laugh but seriously...what is so bad about making it smell nice instead of...well you moms know what I mean. lol
Is this something all children do or is my sons nose not in working order? Anyone else experience this kind of behavoir with their children and why do you think they hate having their favorites washed?

I have an 3 year old that has 2 blankets and an stuffed doggy that he insists on taking everywhere. Even to Grandmas where the new puppy tries to sleep on them.
I have found washing the blankets during play time helps, allowing him to put the blanket in the washer, and telling him that doggy needs an bath just like he does. As long as he gets to help it allows him to feel that his blankets and doggy comes back to him safe.
I also have had to sneak them to the wash an few times since he became attached to them.
