What Did You Do To Prepare Your Toddler For A New Baby?
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions as to introduce a new baby to the household peacefully with a rambunctious toddler? My midwife suggested having the baby and toddler give each other "presents" when introducing them at the hospital. I also had my daughter help make some rattle-like toys for the baby. I bought her a book on being a big sister, and for her 2nd birthday next month (shortly before the baby is due) I bought her a Baby Alive Doll so maybe she could "change" and "feed" her baby when I am doing these things with the new baby. I talk about her baby brother but I don't know if she quite understands? Anyone have any great ideas?
I'm kinda in the same boat. I have a 3 year old son, and have a daughter due on Aug 5. I like the idea of gift exchanging. Other tips I have picked up are:
1. Make sure you do not leave the older child out of anything. Seek her help in changes, feeding, etc.
2. Make sure that when you come in after being out, you excitedly greet and spend time with the elder before moving onto Baby.
3. Any visitors coming - have them follow the above as well.

i just moved to the northern site of the valley in the los angeles and am stunned to sometimes see coyotes walking around in the streets in the middle of the night. I love nature and was thinking of may be going to o'melveny park in the middle of the night to avoid the heat during the day. You supposedly have nice views from all the way up there. But now that I see coyotes I am not so sure. My girlfriend tells me I can still do that since they don't do anything. I don't have to worry about rattle snakes and mountain lions either she says, since mountain lions don't even exist anymore and rattle snakes mind their own business. But recently I talked to a neighbor of mine and she told me that a coyote killed her dog once, and that was in her yard. So now I'm not sure.
I saw a couple of coyotes this am. I have lived in the hills for over 20 years at this location and grew up in the hill in OC. Coyotes are not dangerous to adult humans. BUT PLEASE keep you pet in doors or under intense supervision when out doors. I have had two cats aged 15 and 18 I watch them and protect them. My neighbor should be banned form pet ownership as she has had a cat a year just up and "disappear." HUM>>>>>Yea think it could be coyotes?

I just got a baby Lionhead bunny and she has dark grayish blue eyes. I'm not sure if she's blind. She seems to react to things when she gets up to them and feels them with her face and whiskers instead of by seeing them. But last night she was rattling the cage and she stopped as soon as i turned the lights on, and began doing it again the moment I turned them back off.
Also I read online that to test for blindness vets make a menacing gesture with their hand, like they're going to hit the bunny but then stop before touching it to see if it reacts. I did this and she didn't react.
She's probably about a month old. Is she blind, or does she have poor vision, or are all baby bunnies like this?
I wouldn't get rid of her or anything if she is blind, I just want to know so I can keep that in mind when when interacting with her. I don't want to take her to a vet unless she's sick. Can anyone tell me if you think she's blind or not judging by the information I gave?
